Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is chemically inert. It is biocompatible, hypoallergenic and non-allergenic, which makes it perfect for baby care products, and food contact in general. Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is a reliable solution (as opposed to rubber and TPE) for migration or interaction problems between the main active ingredients. Its chemical stability prevents it from affecting any substrate it is in contact with (skin, water, blood, active ingredients, etc.).
Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is the perfect material for water-tight parts for dispensing systems. This elastomer is perfect for medical implant applications (+/- 29 days), as well as for applications in nuclear medicine, as it is resistant to sterilisation by steam, gamma or EtO.
Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is also flame retardant (UL94V0) and doesn’t give off toxins or halogens when burning. It is ideal for all types of applications with strict safety requirements such as railway or aeronautical industries.
Thanks to its resistance to ageing (through e.g. UV or ozone), its transparency, its optical propagation qualities and its durability, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is set to replace traditional PC in a range of secondary optical applications including street lighting.
